Who is Rev. Chris Hope?

Rev. Christopher Hope — known publicly as The Tech Rev — is an ordained minister, AI ethicist, technology consultant, Boston University lecturer, Aspen Institute Fellow, and the founder of both The Hope Group (Equity Intelligence, LLC) and The Loop Lab. He holds an MDiv from Harvard Divinity School and a BA from Tufts University.

Rev. Hope is one of the most recognized voices at the intersection of artificial intelligence, racial equity, and community technology in the United States. He has spoken at the United Nations STI Forum on AI in education, collaborated with Senator Ed Markey on the AI Civil Rights Act (H.R. 6356), and serves as a Governor-appointed member of the Massachusetts Workforce Board. He is a 2x Telly Award winner, Emmy-nominated producer, and the subject of an NPR All Things Considered feature in July 2026.

He is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where October 28th has been officially designated Chris Hope Day by the City of Cambridge.

He is also the father of Asher James Hope — the two-year-old through whose eyes he sees every algorithm, every platform, and every policy decision he makes.
